Cake
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 sticks butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
Frosting
1 stick butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
1/3 cup milk
1 box powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup pecans
Cake -
1. Mix flour and sugar well in a large bowl.
2. In a saucepan, melt 2 sticks butter, 4 tablespoons
cocoa, 1 cup water. Bring to a boil. Pour over dry
ingredients and mix well.
3. Add 1 cup buttermilk, 2 beaten eggs, and 1 teaspoon
vanilla. Batter will be thin.
4. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9 x
13” pan. Bake at 350o for 30 minutes until a
wooden toothpick stuck into the cakes comes out clean.
Frosting –
1. Combine butter, cocoa and milk in a saucepan and
bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
2. Beat in 1 box powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla,
1 cup pecans. Spread on cake while still hot.
