**I have memories of coming home
from soccer practice on Halloween to a hot clam chowder
dinner. Of course back then I wasn't as fond of it
as I am now.. :) This meal is also great when served
in a hollowed out sourdough bread bowl... like they
do in Monterey..
1 cup chopped onions
2 cups chopped potatoes
1 cup chopped celery
2 cans of clams
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup flour
1 qt half-and-half
1-1/2 tsp salt
1 dash pepper
2 tsp red wine
Combine all ingredients in a pot and cook on medium
heat, stirring frequently. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
